Educational Philosophy and Infrastructure of the Department
The education provided to our students within our department includes planning and implementing nursing care in line with the principles of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative surgical care. For this purpose, the information enriched with current sources is delivered using various educational methods (brainstorming, concept mapping, six thinking hats method, case discussion, role play) and supportive materials (video recordings, practice models, etc.). The practical components of undergraduate and graduate courses are carried out in the relevant clinics of Ondokuz Mayıs University Health Practice and Research Center (OMÜ SUVAM), Samsun Training and Research Hospital affiliated with the Provincial Health Directorate, and Gazi State Hospital. In addition to patient care during in-term clinical practices, the working areas of specialist nurse professionals in specialized fields (Operating Room Nurse, Intensive Care Nurse, etc.) are introduced to support students in their career planning.
