Message from the Head of Department

Dear Students, Welcome to our department. Our mission is to educate committed, sensitive, and dynamic nurse leaders who can humanely manage the health and illness experiences of individuals, families, and communities in an evolving healthcare environment, and who respond to the needs of the global society through ethical and evidence-based practice. As the first established department of our school, our department offers both undergraduate and graduate education opportunities. With its qualified academic staff who are experts in their fields, our department provides evidence-based, current theoretical and practical professional education. Our undergraduate program has been designed according to European standards and updated based on the 2022 version of the National Core Education Program for Nursing (HUÇEP), approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Additionally, our department has received accreditation for five years, until 2030, from HEPDAK (Nursing Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association). In addition to professional education, we support the social development of our students through student clubs, social responsibility projects, sports, cultural, and artistic activities. Our students are encouraged to participate in scientific research and events, as well as to take part in their organization, and are provided with the necessary academic support. Graduates who successfully complete our program can work as nurses—serving as clinicians, managers, or educators—in all public and private institutions that provide preventive and curative health services, including hospitals, schools, workplace health units, home-care service institutions, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. Furthermore, our graduates may pursue graduate education in their fields of interest to specialize and may work as academics at universities. As a department, we work diligently to ensure that you complete your academic and social development at the highest level and become pioneering individuals in your profession. We would like you to know that we will be delighted to witness your achievements throughout this process. I also wish that your nursing education contributes to your development, helps you become leaders in your profession, and supports you in achieving your goals. With my utmost love and respect, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra TURAL BÜYÜK Head of Nursing Department
